Grace in the Shift: Finding Faith and Purpose Beyond the Corporate World
After more than two decades in the corporate world, my life looked structured and successful from the outside — seven positions, twelve major assignments, and a career that shaped much of who I believed I was.
But when my company went through yet another restructuring, something in me knew… it was time. Time to step out, to trust God with a new season, and to venture beyond the familiar.
Around the same time, my husband decided to sell our home in Rustenburg and move permanently to our farm near Sun City. Within just four weeks, we received an offer. I remember sitting at the kitchen table, reading that offer — and crying. My husband asked, “What’s wrong?” and I said,
“I don’t have a house. I don’t have a job. And the children are all grown and gone.”
In that moment, everything that had defined me — wife, mom, professional — seemed to disappear. But God reminded me through Isaiah 30:15, 18, and 21 that:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength...
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice behind you saying,
‘This is the way; walk in it.’”
It was during this season of surrender that healing began. I founded Catalyst Evolution, a consulting and coaching company devoted to helping people and organisations rediscover their why. I became part of the SAVF Journey of Change, guiding one of South Africa’s oldest nonprofits on their path to sustainability and leadership.
Today, I also lead the GPS Framework — Growth, Purpose, and Significance — a model that helps individuals, leaders, and learners connect with their calling. The GPS Gapweek programme for Grade 10–12 learners is one of the most rewarding parts of this work — watching young people’s lives change as they find their purpose and voice.
💬 What I’ve learned:
Life after corporate taught me that endings are often God’s invitations to begin again — to trade achievement for alignment, and success for significance.
My hope is that every person who feels that “shift” stirring inside them finds the courage to trust it… because grace truly lives on the other side of surrender.
